Reds chairman discusses title parade

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner says the club will hold a parade if the club secures its long-awaited first title of the Premier League era.

There have been some suggestions it won’t be safe for there to be any mass gatherings until 2021 at the earliest, but Werner has said the club will wait until whenever it’s safe to do so.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently 25 points clear of closest challengers Man City and could secure their first league title in 30 years within a couple of weeks of a potential restart.

“We hope at some point, people will be able to sit next to each other and enjoy the experience of a sporting event,” Werner told the Associated Press. “But that seems like a long way off at the moment.

“I thought I never could imagine experiencing anything like that [Champions League parade]. Then somebody said: ‘Well, if we win the Premier League, this parade will be dwarfed.’

“So, I am looking forward to a parade sometime when we can all congregate because I know how important that means to all of our supporters.”

The Bundesliga golden boy has been in sensational form of late, recording seven goals and five assists in his last nine appearances and returning from the break with two goals in a 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen.

But Berbatov, who was a key player for Leverkusen as they knocked out Liverpool en route to the 2002 Champions League final, has said he ought to focus on the present.

“Havertz needs to get used to the sounds that are being made about him following his two goals on Monday night because teams are going to come after him,” the Bulgarian told Betfair.

“There's a lot of talk that Liverpool, Chelsea and other teams are interested in him, so now he needs to be careful, not let that go to his head and stay focused on his game.

“He has enough quality and if he continues the way he is going teams will still be there, they won't go away.”

Mascherano ‘surprised’ by Liverpool’s evolution under Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano has admitted that he’s been surprised by how Liverpool have evolved during Klopp’s time as manager.

The Argentine made 139 appearances for Liverpool and was a key player during Rafael Benitez’ time in charge of the club, before sealing a move to Barcelona in 2010.

“The team that continues to surprise me with the evolution it has had is Liverpool. It is clear that Klopp has put it together in his image and likeness,” Mascherano told Argentinian outlet TyC Sports, as reported by the ECHO.

"I am ten years behind, I see how we played with that Liverpool and nothing to do with what I see today.

"I have been following Klopp since he coached Dortmund, which was a pressing team similar to what Liverpool does today but now he has added a positional play share, before it was much more direct.

"That evolution is what I like because, in the end, it ends up being a more complete team.”
