James’ Park have so far proven unsuccessful.
The 25-year-old continues to train away from the first-team squad and maintains his desire to join Liverpool.
Earlier this month, the Reds saw a British-record bid of £110million rejected by Newcastle, who initially insisted that Isak was not for sale this summer.
Last Tuesday, Isak released a statement on Instagram, declaring that “change is in the best interests of everyone.”
The Magpies responded firmly, stating that “no commitment” was ever made by club officials to sanction his departure this summer, further intensifying the standoff between player and club.
Following Newcastle’s narrow defeat to Liverpool in a five-goal thriller at St.
James’ Park on Monday night, manager Eddie Howe admitted he wants clarity on Isak’s future.
Howe said: “I’ve not been party to talks on this for a long time now?
I’ve been preparing the team and giving all my energy to the players that want to play for Newcastle.
“I think that is where my energy is best put at the moment.
“We want clarity, we want to move forward, we want the narrative to change because we’re in the start of the season now.
“We’re into the action and we’ve got to get results, and we’ve got to try to focus on what we can control.
“We’ve given two really, really good performances, we’ve ended up with one point
That’s tough for us to take, especially in this moment where you’re looking for positives to cling to.
“But we battle through and we now go on to Leeds.”
According to The Daily Mail, Liverpool are expected to return with a second bid for Alexander Isak.
The offer is believed to be in the region of £130million.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United are pressing ahead with their pursuit of Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen.
Their opening offer was rejected earlier this week, but the Magpies remain determined to make a breakthrough.
