It is beginning to look like a transfer window not even the most optimistic Liverpool fans would have expected heading into the off-season.

Florian Wirtz is set to be officially announced as a Liverpool player today (Friday), becoming the second acquisition of the summer after Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong completed his 29m move earlier this month.

And the summer madness is not expected to stop with the German star.

In March of this year, DaveOCKOP exclusively revealed that Liverpool had held preliminary talks with agency of Marc Guehi.

The talks were over a number of days earlier this year, with Anfield recruitment team touching base to determine conditions for the deal including guarantees over playing time.

Guehi was a starter during England’s run to the Euro 2024 final last summer, and he wants to be on the plane for the 2026 World Cup in the United States next summer.

During the initial talks, it was stressed to Guehi’s entourage that patience would be required for any incoming deal to Liverpool.

Guehi’s contract at Palace runs until 2026, leaving him with just one year remaining and positioning him as a tempting prospect for clubs seeking a homegrown defender at a realistic price.

Palace are understood to place Guehi’s valuation in the region of £40 – 45 million, with a renewal for the 24-year-old not a possibility.

DaveOCKOP then exclusively revealed this week Thursday that Liverpool now has their sights firmly on the Chelsea academy product as replacement for Jarell Quansah.

Quansah is set to make a move to Bayer Leverkusen, with the Anfield club and Leverkusen coming to an €30 million plus bonuses agreement.

As a result, we can reveal that Richard Hughes and Co?

will now accelerate a move for a centre-back with Guehi a very strong candidate.

The 24-year-old is coming off an outstanding season at club level, captaining Crystal Palace to their first-ever FA Cup triumph and earning plaudits for his composure and ball-playing ability.

Guehi meets the homegrown player criteria, meaning his arrival would help Liverpool fulfil the required quota for their 25-man squad.

It is worth noting that Chelsea retains a 20% sell-on clause in Guehi’s contract, stemming from his £18 million transfer to Crystal Palace in 2021.

This clause further complicates Palace’s negotiating position, as it reduces the net proceeds they would receive from any substantial transfer fee.
