Liverpool are expected to move for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

Guehi has been on the Anfield club’s radar with a summer exit from Selhurst Park anticipated due to having 12 months remaining on his existing contract.

Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea are all long-term admirers of Guehi but the Reds now look set to make a move amid Jarell Quansah’s own departure.

The homegrown centre-back is closing in on a switch to Bayer Leverkusen which would generate funds for Guehi to join the Premier League champions.

Leverkusen at hoping to strike a deal below Quansah’s £30 million valuation due to his status as third choice in Liverpool’s central defensive pecking order.

Quansah previously attracted interest from Newcastle, who had requested for him to be included in a part-exchange deal for Anthony Gordon last summer.

But the Warrington-born player remained on Merseyside and was rewarded with a new long-term contract that safeguarded his future until June 2028.

Meanwhile Liverpool are expected to confirm Florian Wirtz’s club-record arrival from Leverkusen in the next 48 hours following successful negotiations.

Wirtz flew to England on Thursday ahead of his initial £100M move from the Bundesliga, which could rise to a new British record of £116M with add-ons.
