Incoming Liverpool full-back Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly not the only defensive wide player that the Reds want to sign this summer.
As such, it was imperative for Arne Slot to sign a replacement for the right-back quickly.
Since Bayer Leverkusen's season ended, the project to bring Frimpong to Merseyside has intensified.
The ECHO understands that the Dutchman is to finalise a move to Liverpool next week with a £30m deal agreed between the two clubs for his services.

The fee was agreed easily with Leverkusen due to the existance of a release clause in his agreement with the Bundesliga club.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano added on Sunday that the first part of the medical process has been done and, importantly, the Reds still want to add a left-back this summer.
Current first choice Andy Robertson is expected to leave Liverpool at the end of his contract in 2026.
Elsewhere, Liverpool have been handed a boost in their potential Rayan Cherki interest.
