Hugo Ekitike signed for Liverpool this week (Image: Getty)
Liverpool may face an awkward conversation with new signing Hugo Ekitike following reports that the Reds are still interested in a blockbuster move for Alexander Isak.
Newcastle are said to have been made aware that the Swedish forward wants to leave in a potential £150million exit.
Following Ekitike’s switch to Anfield, which was confirmed earlier this week, it seemed that Liverpool’s interest in Isak had diminished.
Liverpool instead opted for the cheaper £79m fee for Ekitike, whose performances for Eintracht Frankfurt made him the best possible alternative to Isak.

But the Daily Mail reports that Isak has now told Newcastle that he wants to leave the club this summer.
After deals for Ekitike, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong, that would take Liverpool’s summer spending to £415m.
Ekitike was widely expected to be Liverpool’s starting striker but that may change if Isak is signed.
He can also play as a left-winger or a second striker, which could be beneficial in Slot’s 4-2-3-1 system.

At Newcastle, Isak’s minutes were often managed and Callum Wilson was well utilised as their second-choice striker.
That may be a difficult conversation for the Liverpool hierarchy to conduct as they balance Ekitike’s arrival with their interest in Isak.
Very few clubs seem likely to cough up the £150m fee that will tempt Newcastle into selling Isak.
