The first of three lengthy Liverpool contract sagas has been resolved with Mohamed Salah putting pen to paper on a two-year extension that will take his Anfield commitment up to a decade.
The speculation over the futures of Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold has dominated the conversation this season with the trio having all entered the final 12 months of their current deals.
Van Dijk is close to following Salah in signing a new deal, although Alexander-Arnold is pondering an offer from Real Madrid.
Liverpool are poised to be in a similar situation next season with Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Caoimhin Kelleher all approaching the final year of their respective contracts.
While it appears as though the Reds are reaching resolutions for Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the terms of Caoimhin Kelleher, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson are not as headline-grabbing as their team-mates.
Liverpool have performed brilliantly to make sure the statuses of all three of Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold have not had any negative impact on the pitch itself and they have more than played their part to make sure their future has not disrupted results across the course of the campaign.
For Konate, it is worth placing him in the same boat as Alexander-Arnold, Salah and Van Dijk and attempting to hunker down for the long haul over negotiations.
And there appears not quite the same level of intrigue with the latest triumvirate.
That is understandable given, with the imminent arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is expected to leave with the best wishes of supporters in pursuit of becoming a number one between the sticks in his own right.
Andy Robertson will be 32 when his present deal expires and, with Liverpool likely to sign a new left-back this summer, will have entered the latter stages of his career and won't be expecting a lengthy contract extension.
