A Liverpool fan who clashed with Diego Simeone has revealed what happened.
The Atletico Madrid manager was sent off immediately after his side suffered a late 3-2 defeat in Wednesday’s opening Champions League encounter at Anfield.
Simeone and his coaching staff became embroiled in fracas with several home supporters at the front of the Main Stand following Virgil van Dijk’s winning goal.
TV cameras captured Jonny Poulter in a face-to-face exchange with the Argentine from his position next to the dugout area at Premier League champions’ stadium.
The Reds supporter identified himself on social media in the wake of the incident and responded to Simeone’s claims that he aimed insults at the opposition boss.
He said: “There’s something I want to get off my chest with regards to what happened last night with Simeone.
“I think he’s a bit of a coward.
When he went and done his press conference after the game, the Spanish media has asked him what was said.
“If it was racist, if it was regarding the Falklands War and all this rubbish.
There was nothing racist said by me or anyone else.
There was never a mention of the Falklands War by me or anyone else.
“But the fact that he was asked it and he didn’t answer the question, and he just got up and walked out.
He’s just left it open for speculation for the world.
“I’ve had messages on every platform.
I said nothing apart from ‘f**k off, we’ve won’, basically, as you do.
“But that’s what he done to us when they scored the equaliser.
“His assistant manager was giving it way in front of us.
