Liverpool have struggled so far this afternoon against Crystal Palace away from home.

The Reds have had a horror start to the game at Selhurst Park, with Palace taking a very early lead against the Premier League leaders with a goal from Ismaila Sarr from a corner which was not defended well at all.

Arne Slot’s side have struggled to get around the very compact and well-drilled Oliver Glasner side, who have taken their opportunities and caused Liverpool problems at the back.

Alisson Becker has been the standout player for Slot’s side because he has kept his team out of trouble at every time of asking.

There has been a struggle in defence to stop the press and the attacking quality of this Glasner side; they will have to hope they can turn it around in the second half.

It was only after nine minutes of the game that Sarr was able to capitalise on Ryan Gravenberch’s misplaced header, but it was the pressure from the Eagles captain Marc Guehi that forced the slight error.

After the goal went in the back of the net, though, fans noticed that the England international did not celebrate despite his team going ahead against last season’s champions.

He was supposed to join Slot’s side over the summer, but did not get his move after Palace scuppered the transfer at the last moment on deadline day, despite a deal in place.

One fan noted: “Guehi didn’t celebrate the goal when it was scored.

So obvious he has his heart set at Anfield.”

He was backed up by a different fan, who believes that it will not be long before he comes to Merseyside.

“Guehi didn’t celebrate with Palace his head’s fully turned,” he wrote.

Another fan pleaded with the 25-year-old star to join the Reds, she wrote: “Guehi, please put on a Liverpool shirt, please, I’m begging you, brother please.”

One fan had a simpler reaction to Guehi, they wrote: “Guehi not celebrating the Palace goal.

Interesting.”

Two fans were on the same page with their thoughts on the body language from the defender.

“Guehi didn’t celebrate nice,” one wrote.

Another agreed: “Guehi didn’t celebrate fairs.”

However, it was not only Liverpool fans who noticed this reaction, or lack thereof.

Martin Keown on the BBC Live Blog noted the fact that he decided not to celebrate the goal with his team, even though he had some involvement in the goal.

On the blog, the former Arsenal player wrote: “Marc Guehi’s body language, it’s like he used to play for Liverpool.

He is not celebrating, he is walking away like he’s not allowed to celebrate.”

It does seem a very odd reaction, considering he will likely be at the South London club for the rest of the season, unless Liverpool wants to pay a fee due to their lack of a fourth out-and-out centre-back option.

They may need him, considering the performance of Ibrahima Konate, who has struggled with the pace and pressing of the opposition side.
