Trent Alexander-Arnold spoke fluent Spanish as he was unveiled as a Real Madrid player
Liverpool fans have taken to social media after watching Trent Alexander-Arnold deliver a speech in fluent Spanish during his official unveiling as a Real Madrid player.
The Reds academy graduate, 26, confirmed last month that he would not be extending his contract at Anfield amid longstanding interest from the Spanish giants, who have since shelled out a significant transfer fee to extract the defender from his contract early.
Alexander-Arnold will feature for Los Blancos at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup after moving early and was officially presented to members of the media in Spain on Thursday.
And after watching the England star address the room in perfect Spanish, some fans took to social media to speculate that Alexander-Arnold had been undergoing lessons to secretly hone the language.
"Signing for a club like Real Madrid doesn’t happen every day," he said at a press conference.

Fans were quick to react on social media with one posting on X: "That's very fluent for someone who has only been learning for 6 months," referencing claims Alexander-Arnold's mind wasn't made up on a move until the spring.
One well known Liverpool account posted a similar message, saying: "Impressive for a lad who only decided in March really."

Another added: "And there’s the proof he’s had only Madrid in his mind the last year, if not longer.
That’s impressive."
Alexander-Arnold, who will don the No.12 shirt with just 'Trent' instead of his surname for Los Blancos, went on to admit he had been studying hard and was excited for the challenges ahead at his new club.
