Liverpool players are in line to scoop the end of season awards after winning the Premier League at a canter.
Mohamed Salah has already been named as the Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year and is likely to follow it on with further awards, too.
One which Salah will be keen to get his hands on is the official Premier League Player of the Year.
Although he has now secured himself a treble of FWA awards and will surely soon clinch his third PFA Player of the Year as well, the Egyptian has only once been able to call himself the Premier League Player of the Year.
That was eight years ago now, but having delivered a barnstorming campaign for Liverpool, Salah is nailed-on to win again.
Nevertheless, the Premier League still have to go through the motions of nominating some other, worthy candidates.
And after the list of contenders was released on Thursday, Liverpool fans are fuming at the exclusion of Alexis Mac Allister.

Mac Allister has had a superb season for Liverpool, growing in confidence throughout the season to become one of Arne Slot’s key players.
However, the 26-year-old was clearly not seen in the same light by the wider footballing world, with the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Declan Rice, Bryan Mbeumo, Chris Wood and Liverpool teammate Ryan Gravenberch all in ahead of him.
“It’s obviously Salah who wins, but Mac Allister has ran the show for Liverpool.”
“I mean, his name is trending so I’m not saying anything new, but Alexis Mac Allister not being on this list is genuinely insane,” someone else claimed.

Others took aim at certain players, with Rice seemingly taking the most heat.
“Quite how Declan Rice is up for Premier League Player of the Season is beyond me.
He’s easily been a Top 5 player in the league this season,” was someone else’s verdict.
“Mac Allister is unlucky to not be nominated for player of the year,” another claimed.
We struggle when he doesn’t play,” one more fan deduced.
“Salah is the clear winner, but Alexis Mac Allister is unlucky not to feature in the shortlist,” was another’s verdict.
Liverpool ultimately had three players featured in this list, with Gravenberch and Salah joined by Virgil van Dijk.
And although some fans clearly feel he should have ceded his place to Mac Allister, Gravenberch was also put forward for the Premier League’s Young Player of the Year.
In truth, the 22-year-old actually has a relatively good chance of winning, with no clear standout candidate.
Cole Palmer is the likely favourite, but the Chelsea man’s form has tailed off towards the end of the season.
Meanwhile, all of Liam Delap, Anthony Elanga, Dean Huijsen, Joao Pedro, Morgan Rogers and William Saliba has done well, but none have been outstanding.
With Arne Slot likely to win manager of the year and Salah looking good to snatch the player’s award, let’s hope Gravenberch can make it a Liverpool treble.
