Liverpool have been far from convincing this season but continue to get the job done.

Reds fans will have breathed a big sigh of relief for the fourth game in a row after their side managed to pick up another scrappy three points at the death.

Mohamed Salah’s 95th minute penalty saved the day for the Premier League champions, with Liverpool’s 100% winning record, somehow, still intact.

There were many key takeaways from the game, with these things needing to be addressed sooner rather than later or else it might cost them dearly.

And, Reds supporters believe that there is one obvious change Arne Slot needs to make to his starting line-up next time they play, with this potentially able to make a big difference.

Despite romping to the Premier League title, Liverpool underwent an overhaul in the summer to make reinforcements that were desperately needed.

One of these changes came at left-back due to Andy Robertson’s sudden downturn in form, with Milos Kerkez arriving to become the Reds’ first choice.

However, he has had a hard start to life in a Liverpool shirt and was even substituted after just 38 minutes against Burnley due to the worry that he might be sent off.

Robertson subsequently came on to replace him and did a stellar job, with fans believing that his performance should be enough for Slot to start him in the next game.

One supporter wrote on X: “He had a brilliant game today, but I’m starting to get nervous about Kerkez,’ while another echoed a similar point, saying: “He needs to start and Kerkez needs to learn and evolve!”

A third fan thought Robertson made a real difference off the bench, saying: “First touch to last touch he was excellent, once he came in Liverpool’s performance improved a lot.”

Another supporter said he believes Robertson has always been better, writing: Saying this for the 100th time… Kerkez has nothing over Robbo.”

A fifth believes Slot should rotate the two of them depending on the game, saying: “When we play a team that sits back, Robertson should start.

When we play a more attacking team, Kerkez should start.”

Another also thinks that the Scotsman has shown Kerkez exactly what he needs to work on, saying: “He knows how to make those runs behind defenders, how to play with his wingers and knows where to put in the balls.

Something Kerkez needs to work on.”

Despite not playing the full game, another fan thinks Robertson was the best on the pitch, saying: “MOTM for me.

The game transformed when Andy came on.

Still the best left-back in the league in my opinion,” while a final supporter summed his performance up nicely, writing: “That’s a Vice Captain performance.”

Although Slot’s early substitution was necessary, there is no denying that it was also ruthless and it could affect Kerkez a lot.

A similar situation happened with Jarell Quansah during the Dutchman’s first game in charge away at Ipswich last season, with the Englishman needing a spell out of the team to gather his thoughts.

The same might need to happen with Kerkez and due to this, combined with Robertson’s excellent outing, it would be wise to start the Scotsman against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

The 31-year-old’s experience could also prove invaluable as the Reds need to get off to the best start possible, and another good performance could see him get the nod in the Merseyside derby just three days after.
