Liverpool fans are all in agreement over who should replace Luis Diaz after what happened against AC Milan

Liverpool got their pre-season tour of Asia underway with a defeat against AC Milan.

Almost two weeks after their last game in front of fans, the Reds were back in action and got some valuable minutes under their belt.

One player who did not, however, was Luis Diaz, with the winger left out of the matchday squad entirely as rumours continue to circulate about his future.

Bayern Munich are set to send in a second bid for the Colombian very soon, although this is still likely to be below the asking price of £86m, with the Germans willing to go up to £69m.

However, his exclusion from the squad suggests that the offer could be accepted and Diaz could be on his way out, but after their friendly against AC Milan, Liverpool fans believe they know who should be his replacement already.

Pre-season is, of course, mainly just a period for players to get up to full fitness and work on some possible tactics, with the result not meaning all that much.

Saying this, fans will still want to see a good performance, and the Reds had a very poor start after Rafael Leao opened the scoring after just 11 minutes.

The Portuguese winger managed to get his shot past Virgil van Dijk and Alisson in goal, with Liverpool fans left in awe of his strike, believing that he should replace Diaz if he were to go.

One fan put: “Right he’s scored against us, sign him,” while another added: “Would anyone take Rafael Leao as a Luis Diaz replacement?

I would, no brainer.”

A third fan wrote: “You genuinely cannot stop Leao!” with another putting: “You want a Luis Diaz replacement?

RAFAEL LEAO is right there.”

A fifth fan put: “I don’t know why we never went in for Leao as a replacement for Diaz.

He just smoked us and scored against us there in pre-season.”

Another added: “Bayern are insane for wanting Diaz over Leao!” A seventh supporter simply put: “Leao, cracking player!”

A final fan rounded it off by writing: “Can’t think of a better Diaz replacement aside from Leao to be honest.”

With the Colombian left out of the squad completely, this would suggest that he is more out than in at this point in time, and Arne Slot wants to give other players a chance to shine.

Bayern are set to bid very soon and although it will be less than the Reds want, it might be accepted to raise finances quickly, especially if Alexander Isak is to arrive at Anfield in the near future.

Rio Ngumoha also had a memorable first-half out on the left, suggesting they can afford to let Diaz go as well, with the 16-year-old causing real problems for yet another defence.

The Colombian has been a real asset since signing from Porto, but now might be the best time to move, with there being plenty of replacements available.
