Trent Alexander-Arnold is now a good chunk into his Real Madrid career.

The Reds have started their title defence in perfect fashion by being the only team to take maximum points so far this season.

However, one reason why it may feel a little odd is because they no longer have a regular scouser in their team that plays almost every minute.

Curtis Jones gets a decent amount of game time, but Alexander-Arnold was the golden boy that all the fans almost worshipped, although his legacy at the club is certainly no more.

He made the controversial switch to Madrid this summer and whether fans like it or not, the majority of them cannot help but keep a close eye on how he is getting on.

And, seem to love what has just happened to him, with the Englishman being sent another reality check since departing Anfield.

When Real Madrid come calling, it would suggest the player they are after could turn into a real world-beater, and ‘Trent’ certainly has the qualities to be one.

However, he did not always show it at Liverpool, mainly defensively, and it appears as if he has been found out very early on in the Spanish capital.

This is because manager Xabi Alonso decided to bench him again for 33-year-old Dani Carvajal, with Reds fans all saying the same thing about the scouser.

One fan wrote: “Grass is not always greener,” followed by three laughing emojis, while another added: “He just wants the challenge, and he’s got one…”

A third aimed a dig at the right-back for once saying he wants to win the Ballon d’Or, writing: “Trent Alexander-Arnold one day dreams of winning the Bench d’Or…”

A fourth fan added to that, writing: “He looks upset but I’m sure he can be the first to win a Ballon d’Or from the dugout.”

A fifth said: “He could have had it all,” while another still cannot believe his decision, writing: “possible captain and legend to benchwarmer, why did he choose this?”

A seventh joked about the transfer fee they paid for him despite Trent already agreeing to join on a free transfer, saying: “Madrid paid 10m and still got scammed…”

A final fan made a point that almost all rival fans consistently said about him during his time on Merseyside, saying: “Does help if you’re a right back and are able to defend.”

When he left at the start of the summer, most would have thought that Alexander-Arnold is irreplaceable beyond belief, but this simply is not the case.

Although Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley both suffered early injuries, they still look to be good additions that can add something a little different.

As well as this, Dominik Szoboszlai has filled in there in recent weeks and done a stellar job, with the Reds winning both the games he played there in, as well as the first of the season.

Liverpool were the only team to take maximum points from their first three matches, showing how their title defence has started in the best way possible despite losing such a key player in Trent.
