Liverpool fans have been walking on air over the past week or so as they move ever closer to securing the Premier League title.

More than matters on the pitch, however, the news that both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have signed new contracts with the club has been richly celebrated.

Both players had been entering the final months of their respective deals and it was seen as being imperative that Liverpool signed them up.

The same has also been true of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is down to what could be his final six games as a Liverpool player.

It has long been expected that Alexander-Arnold will sign for Real Madrid, with the Spanish press declaring with near-certainty that Trent is on his way out.

However, after the late signings of both Salah and Van Dijk, Liverpool fans are starting to believe that Alexander-Arnold may not leave Anfield after all.

Liverpool fans have rightly been furious with the way Alexander-Arnold has handled his contract situation over the past couple of years.

However, if the Liverpool academy graduate puts pen to paper on a new deal, fans on X are suggesting that all will be forgiven.

“If Trent U turns and ends up staying everything I’ve said about him is irrelevant and all is forgiven,” said one supporter.

“He can have a whole bus to himself at the parade.”

“If Trent stays I’ll forgive him for everything,” remarked another, with plenty more convincing themselves that Alexander-Arnold is about to make them very happy indeed.

“Slyly convinced myself Trent has signed a deal with us yeno,” one claimed, “Trent might be staying…” said another, getting ready to grovel.

“I think there’s more than a 50% chance of Alexander-Arnold staying at Liverpool,” someone else posted.

“Then all of your apologies better be as loud as the hate you gave him.”

“So Trent Alexander Arnold is staying,” another said, confidently.

“Slot looked confident about it in the press conference and he even said the lad is committed to the club.”

Others pointed towards Alexander-Arnold sharing photographs from Friday’s training session as proof he may be staying.

“For the first time in a while, Trent Alexander-Arnold has finally shared this on his IG story,” said one fan.

“Trent Alexander Arnold on his Instagram story,” another said, posting the photos.

“He’s staying isn’t he.”

While supporters are trying desperately to forge their own conclusions about what’s going on with Alexander-Arnold, Arne Slot has been forced to comment as well.

Just as he was asked about Trent during Friday’s pre-Leicester press conference, Jamie Carragher then sat down with the Liverpool head coach to try to coax an answer out of him.
