Liverpool kicked off their Premier League campaign on Friday night against Bournemouth.
It was an emotional evening on Merseyside, with the Reds in competitive action at home for the first time since the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.
The Kop did Jota proud, displaying a wonderful message for Diogo’s wife Rute and their three children: Dinis, Duarte and Mafalda.
After a minute of silence for Jota and his brother Andre Silva was impeccably observed, the Premier League got underway for the season.
Liverpool started reasonably well, but Bournemouth are awkward opponents and they showed it at Anfield.
With the Cherries pressing Liverpool at every opportunity, Ibrahima Konate put himself in trouble on a couple of occasions, and supporters were not impressed.

Konate did not cover himself in glory during last weekend’s Community Shield, and that carried on into the game at Anfield.
With Giovanni Leoni having signed earlier in the day, Liverpool fans on X were less than forgiving after Konate played a back-pass out for a corner early on.

“Leoni in the building has Konate rattled,” commented one fan, with another adding: “Konate doesn’t look up to standard.”
“Konate already thinking about Madrid,” someone else suggested, while someone else suggested: “Konate’s head is in Spain.”

“Has Konate had a good touch of the ball yet?” another fan queried, as supporters grew concerned at their lack of defensive coherence.
“Van Dijk and Konate look so incoherent,” someone commented.
“Hyper aware of Konate making errors.
Love him but wasn’t great Sunday and a couple of dodgy passes already,” another claimed.
“Konate better wake up,” one more supporter surmised, with the No.
5 looking shaky far too many times.
Konate was not the only Liverpool player who looked half asleep once the game kicked off on Friday.
However, he was the one who looked most likely to put the Reds in trouble.
It was not only the errant ball back to Alisson Becker, the Frenchman let a couple of long balls bounce and seemed to be caught in two minds several times.
Commenting for Sky Sports, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was left unimpressed with Konate.
“He needs to wake up Konate, very quickly,” Carragher asserted, after seeing the centre-back give away another pass.
