Liverpool have looked phenomenal in the first half against Everton, and Milos Kerkez has been part of that success.

The Reds have been able to go 2-0 up against their local rivals in the Merseyside Derby with a brilliant half-volley goal from Ryan Gravenberch, followed by a neat Hugo Ekitike low-driven shot.

It looks already like a much-improved performance from the previous four games of the Premier League season, where they have had to rely on late winners to seal victory.

But it has not only been the goal scorers who have found the adulation of supporters in the first half; Kerkez has also caught their eye.

The Hungarian was subbed off before the end of the opening half against Burnley after acquiring a yellow card and fouling a player, meaning Arne Slot could not take the risk.

However, there was a surprise for fans to see his name on the teamsheet after being benched for the Champions League game and subbed off in the game prior.

His tackles and attacking positivity in the opening 45 minutes have been a pleasure to watch and those watching feel it is going under the radar.

One fan wrote about his first cross of the game and how important it was to see the left back finding himself in better attacking areas.

They wrote: “Lovely run from Kerkez, just the wrong pass at the end of it.

Great start going forward though.”

Another praised him for being able to ignore the disappointment of the past week and putting in a strong showing.

“Kerkez is affecting the match in a much better way today than on Wednesday.

Nice to see him bounce back,” he wrote.

This fan noted the change in the way he is being used in the team, with the 21-year-old fitting into a more standard role than he is used to.

They wrote: “Kerkez seems to have more licences today is playing as a conventional left back.”

Two fans were in agreement over the way he has found himself playing on the left-hand side.

One wrote: “Kerkez’s movement on the left has been fantastic too.”

“Kerkez is looking sharp today.

Hahaha,” this fan said.

A fan lamented the times Kerkez used to play in a back three when he has the right qualities to drive his team forward.

“Kerkez has been unreal so far, him playing in a back three was genuinely criminal,” they wrote.

His great start has not only been a great attacking display but a good defensive one, with the player winning two of his three ground duels so far and registering three clearances.

Already, he has a 100% pass accuracy and won all of his aerial duels, which should give him the right confidence he needs to continue in the second half.

This shows that he is starting to settle into the team much more now and just needs time to build on this to ensure he is the starting left-back.
