Mohamed Salah may have had yet another record-breaking season, but he had to settle for fourth place in the Ballon d’Or rankings.
Monday night saw all the biggest stars fly to Paris for the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony, with the Reds having a few representatives in attendance.
One person who did not show up, however, was Salah, with the Egyptian likely knowing that he has not won the award.
In the end, PSG’s Ousmane Dembele picked up the trophy, with Salah, rather extraordinarily, not even finishing in the top three.
This is something that has left everyone divided over this online, with Liverpool fans having a lot to say about their star player missing out.

Over the years, the integrity of the award has been questioned on many occasions, and it is safe to say that Reds supporters are not the biggest fans of the award as a whole.
Ever since Virgil van Dijk missed out on it in 2019, Liverpool fans have been left fuming over the whole event, with the Dutchman just seven points off beating Lionel Messi to the award that year.
And now, their anger appears to have only gotten greater, with many believing that Salah has been treated unfairly, and not for the first time either.

One fan wrote on X: “Mohamed Salah, the most disrespected player on the planet.
Deserves better,” while another agreed, saying: “Mohamed Salah is the most criminally disrespected and under-appreciated footballer the world has ever seen.”
A third fan believes that Salah did the right thing by not turning up to the ceremony, writing: “Absolute disgrace.
Best individual season in PL history to finish behind Vitinha.”

Another supporter believes that Salah should have already won a Ballon d’Or anyway, saying: “Salah has had 3 Ballon d’Or worthy seasons of football and he doesn’t get a sniff…”
A fifth believes that it comes down to the fact that PSG had the best team, with this fan saying: “Mo Salah was the best player in the world last season, Ousmane Dembele had the best team-mates.”
Another said: “This is the robbery of the century,” while another cannot believe he did not win after the season he had, writing: ” 57 G/A and not even top 3 is CRAZY”
A final fan summed it up nicely and mentioned how the award is not what it once was, saying: “4th is disrespect of the highest order.
I will never rate the Ballon d’Or again.”
Most rival fans will probably love the fact that Salah missed out on the award, although deep down, a lot of them will think he should have won it at one point in his career.
For a lot of players, something like this will be a huge blow and they may struggle to perform in the coming weeks, but if there is one person it will not affect, it is Salah.
The Egyptian will likely use this as extra motivation this season, with the winger, like he always does, hoping to prove people wrong.
Now 33, it is very unlikely that he will ever pick up the trophy, but if he is to, this season feels like his last shot, so he will be trying his best to make it count.
