Trent Alexander-Arnold may have been in tears on the Anfield pitch following his final appearance for Liverpool, but that did not alter how some Reds fans are feeling about the defender's departure.

It's been three weeks since Alexander-Arnold confirmed he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, and on his next outing he was subjected to boos as he emerged as a second-half substitute against Arsenal at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold took to social media on Monday, sharing pictures from Liverpool's celebration at Anfield alongside the caption: "Fairytale ending." After feeling the love from the fans inside Anfield 24 hours earlier, Alexander-Arnold received plenty of negative replies from Liverpool supporters on X.

One of them shared an AI image of Alexander-Arnold and Michael Owen, but with their noses replaced by rats' noses and whiskers, while another brutally wrote: "Thank you for your service.

You will be forgotten." A third wrote: "As a Liverpool fan I couldn’t care less in few years time no one will remember you at Liverpool"

Speaking to Sky Sports after Liverpool lifted the trophy at Anfield on Sunday, Alexander-Arnold said: "I didn't know what to expect stepping out at Anfield today after what happened a few weeks ago but I wanted to play for the club one more time, and I said that to the manager and he trusted me to go in at half-time.

"To get the reception that I got means more than anything to me.
