20 is no longer with us is still desperately hard to grasp.

But, sadly, Liverpool must move forward.

They have a season to prepare for and it has been nice to see smiles slowly returning to the faces of the Liverpool squad over recent days.

One thing Jota’s sudden passing made clear to the Reds’ fanbase is just how strong a connection supporters build up with Liverpool players.

Someone who has felt that love in recent times is Wataru Endo.

And after footage emerged of the Japanese in action at the Liverpool training ground, fans have been falling for Endo all over again.

One thing fans have always been pleased to see from Endo is the whole-hearted way he plays football.

The 32-year-old is all in, all the time.

And after Liverpool posted a clip on social media on Friday, it is clear that Endo intends to play the same way this season too.

First, he slide tackles Cody Gakpo, then he gets back up, wins the ball again, dances past a couple of challenges and gets his pass off.

“He is so underrated in possession it’s unbelievable,” said one fan, with another simply adding: “I love Wataru Endo.”

“Give this guy more playing time and he will be better than Caicedo I just hope we make good use of him this season,” someone else added.

“Love Endo!!” was another’s view.

“He’s so reliable, keeping him is a great decision,” said another.

Although Liverpool fans have been huge fans of Endo for some time now, the truth is that he has not been playing an awful lot for the Reds.

The former Stuttgart man did not start a Premier League match until May last season and is likely to be in a similar position next time around as well.

As a result, there have been some suggestions that Endo could leave Liverpool this summer, with clubs in the Bundesliga reportedly keen on bringing him back to Germany.

However, the links have gone quiet over recent times, and unless the Reds bring a new midfielder in, it seems unlikely Endo will go.

For the Liverpool fans who have grown to love the Japan captain, that is the best possible news.
