And it was obvious once again on Monday, with the lack of a focal point up front the only real thing missing from a spirited display.

Liverpool had no such troubles of their own, and after seeing Hugo Ekitike score once again, journalist James Pearce heard fans joking with the Newcastle counterparts to hand Isak over.
“‘Isak’s right, your fans are s****,’ is the chant from the away end,” Pearce reported on X.

A minute later Pearce added the second verse from the newly-coined chant.
“‘Hand him over, hand him over Newcastle,’ from the away end,” he posted.
Throughout the past few weeks, the feeling has been that this game needed to be navigated before anything at all could happen with Isak.
The latest reports suggest Liverpool are likely to return with another bid for Isak, but it was never going to happen before Monday.
With less than a week now to run in the window, things are now or never in this potentially massive transfer this summer.
