Liverpool fans mistakenly set off blue flares to celebrate the Premier League title win as Everton fans poked fun at their cross-city rivals.
On Sunday, Liverpool hosted lowly Spurs knowing just a point at Anfield would secure a second Premier League title in club history - and tie Manchester United ’s record of 20 First Division titles.
Alisson was reduced to tears as the Brazilian goalkeeper won a second Premier League title of his career.
In the stands, fans released flares to add more color to the vibrant Anfield atmosphere - but, to the horror of some, the flares were blue and not red.
On social media, an Everton fan posted and claimed his friend had sold a bunch of blue flares that he had packaged as red to Liverpool fans preparing for the title celebrations.
“He bought 10,000 blue flares and spent the last 4 weeks taking the blue labels off them and putting red labels on them,” posted the fan.
Many Liverpool supporters certainly took the bait, with videos of blue flares randomly in the crowd going viral.
Ultimately, even the cursed color of their heated rivals was never going to dampen the spirits of Liverpool fans on Sunday.
Anfield celebrated long after the whistle, with players dancing on the field while supporters chanted the name of manager Arne Slot.
