Liverpool fans have been in dreamland for pretty much the whole of May so far.
After securing their second Premier League title towards the end of April, it has been party mode on Merseyside.
Results may not have been especially good on the pitch, but that has not dampened the spirits of the Liverpool supporters who are making sure the world knows that they are champions.
This has extended to the transfer market, where Liverpool are certainly moving like a club who mean business.
After all-but securing a deal for right-back Jeremie Frimpong, the Reds are hammering out what will be a club record deal to sign Frimpong’s Bayer Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz.
Liverpool have surprised everyone in moving to the front of the queue for Wirtz, not least Bayern Munich, who appeared to believe they were virtually certain to land the German.
Having been blindsided by Liverpool, though, the Bundesliga champions are now reportedly readying a move which would make the Reds’ summer even sweeter.

After news emerged on Friday that Liverpool are leading the race, Bayern publicly conceded defeat on Wirtz this Saturday.
But according to The Independent, that does not mean that the Munich giants are finished in the transfer market.

As they look to replace departing legend Thomas Muller, Bayern are reportedly considering an approach for Man United captain Bruno Fernandes.
United are said to be in need of making sales after missing out on European football for next season and Fernandes would reportedly command the highest fee.

With PSG and teams in Saudi Arabia monitoring the 30-year-old, Bayern are also claimed to view Fernandes as a ‘viable alternative’ to Wirtz.
If Liverpool can pluck one of the best German talents from under Bayern’s noses and see United’s star player leave all in one fell swoop, it will be well worth the giant transfer fee.
Liverpool and Man United could not have had more different seasons.
For Liverpool fans, they may well be hoping Bayern push the accelerator on this particular move.
And what could delight the Reds’ faithful more?
Wirtz is surely set to be a success at Liverpool after proving his class in the Bundesliga.
