Liverpool has confirmed the signing of Germany superstar Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for what could become a British-record transfer fee.
It is understood that the Reds will pay $136 million (£100 million) with a further $22 million (£16 million) potentially to be activated in add-ons.The attacking midfielder scored 16 goals and assisted another 15 for Leverkusen last season and he is a regular for his national team.
Speaking to club media as his move to Liverpool was confirmed, Wirtz said: “I feel very happy and very proud.
“I'm really excited to have a new adventure in front of me.I spoke also with some players who played there and they told me that it’s perfect for me and every pitch is perfect, you can enjoy every game.I’m really looking forward to playing my first game.”
Asked about his first targets with the club, Wirtz said: “I would like to win everything every year!I’m really ambitious.”
