A Liverpool forward linked with Leeds Utd has been tipped as the ideal candidate to propel the Whites to success in the Premier League.

Leeds currently sit atop the Championship table, and are expected to achieve promotion back to the top flight for the first time since 2004 one way or another.

The hallmark of their second tier success under Marcelo Bielsa has been their resilient defensive displays.

Boasting the league’s meanest defensive record, the Whites will be a formidable opponent for most Premier League teams, but it is in the attacking areas in which they will most likely seek transfer reinforcements.

Despite unrelenting loyalty from Bielsa, Patrick Bamford has divided opinion, and no other Leeds player has hit double figures in the league this term.

One solution to their underwhelming attack could be in the form of Liverpool’s on-loan forward Harry Wilson.

The Welshman, 23, has impressed with Bournemouth this campaign, notching seven goals from 23 league appearances.

The Yorkshire club were recently linked with a summer swoop for the winger, with the Reds expected to be open to listening to offers for a fee far less than they would’ve hoped to receive just 12 months ago.

Now, former Leeds centre-back Alex Bruce has thrown his backing behind the potential move, describing Wilson as a “proven” performer at the top level.

“I think he’s a very good Premier League player, I think he’s a good prospect and he can only get better,” Bruce told Football Insider (via The Daily Express).

“He’s obviously got great free-kick ability and he’s a huge threat from around the box.

“I think if Leeds are going to get back in the Premier League and dive into the transfer market, they need proven Premier League players.

“I think Harry’s turned into one of those with the clubs he’s been at and the performances he’s given.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has given his two word response to a question regarding the now abandoned null and void scenario.
