It's claimed Liverpool has a clear path to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, as Chelsea sets its sights on different targets despite Levi Colwill's severe knee injury.

The England defender's contract at Selhurst Park expires next summer, leaving Oliver Glasner's side with limited chances to secure a fee for his services.

Guehi will be available on a free transfer at the end of next season, and there are suggestions that the London club may re-enter the market for its former academy player following news of Colwill's surgery after an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.



According to The Telegraph, Liverpool is in the driving seat to sign Guehi, 25, with Chelsea exploring other options in the market.

"But as always, what I always say, it's the same boring answer as with players that we might bring in or not.

"I'm really happy with the players we already have, and we have numerous players that can play in that position."

Liverpool is not expected to rush into a deal for Guehi, having already spent more than $300 million on new talent this summer.
