Crystal Palace is reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Brighton defender Igor, which could signal that the club is preparing to offload Marc Guehi.

Liverpool has been interested in a deal to sign Guehi for some time, but ahead of the Premier League's transfer deadline in a matter of hours, he remains a Palace player.

Guehi has played in all six of Palace's games in all competitions so far this season, but Sunday's win away to Aston Villa could end up being his farewell appearance for the South London club.

Brighton's Igor has struggled with injuries in 2025 and his only appearance for the Seagulls so far this season came in a League Cup game against Oxford United.

It was reported last week that Palace wanted to sign two new center-backs before considering allowing Guehi to leave, and the additions of Igor and Jaydee Canvot — the Toulouse defender who is set to complete his move to Selhurst Park today — could facilitate the England defender's move to Anfield.

If Guehi were to depart, that would no doubt be a disappointing development for Palace manager Oliver Glasner, who has repeatedly preached the importance of Palace keeping hold of its captain beyond the closure of the window.

Speaking after Palace's 3-0 win against Aston Villa on Sunday, in which Guehi scored, Glasner said: "I told the chairman we have to keep Marc if we want to play a successful season.

"We have no chance to find the right replacement in one day.

Palace want to sign Brighton's Igor on loan.

"We wanted a replacement by 1 July

I don't like the limelight too much, there are a lot of cameras in my face all the time and constantly talking about me but I'm glad I have got a good club and good teammates around me.

"When you focus on what's important, which is the football, it makes it a lot easier."

Liverpool saw an offer of £35 million ($47 million) rejected for Guehi last week, with reports suggesting Palace would be willing to sell the player if the Reds were to add an extra £5 million ($7 million) in add-ons to their offer.
