Liverpool are weighing up a move for Marc Guehi and they may have to make a decision quickly.
The Reds have been linked with centre-backs all summer and despite already signing one in the form of Giovanni Leoni, they are still in the market for another.
The main reason for this is their defensive frailties that have been evident in pre-season and now during their opening game of the Premier League season, with reinforcements needed.
On top of this, with Ibrahima Konate’s contract set to expire next summer, a replacement is required if he does not sign, with Crystal Palace captain Guehi the frontrunner to take over from the Frenchman.
Whether Konate leaves or not is yet to be seen, but if Liverpool are serious about bringing in Guehi, they will have to act fast or they risk missing out.

There is no doubting the quality Guehi possesses, but as he has just a year left on his contract, the Reds are wary of paying too much for his services.
They feel a deal worth around £30m is fair, while Palace want closer to £35m-£40m, although neither side is willing to budge at this point in time.
However, if Liverpool are thinking that waiting to get him on a free is better, then maybe they should think again, as the competition for his signature will only increase tenfold.

And, according to CaughtOffside, Inter Milan are carefully monitoring the situation, with the Italian side ready to make a formal approach should he choose to leave for free.

As per their sources, Inter’s representatives have reportedly reached out to Guehi’s entourage and told them that he is on their shortlist for the summer of 2026, with the Italians ready to swoop in and beat any competition.
Guehi now has a choice to make but with the Englishman happy to run his contract down, perhaps Liverpool should make a move now to avoid a drawn-out saga next summer.
Not only will they want to bring Guehi in to avoid losing out on him next summer, but Liverpool also need him to join now due to their defensive issues.
Virgil van Dijk is 34 and Joe Gomez and Konate are injury-prone, with Leoni the other option they have.
But at 18, whether he is ready is not yet known, although relying heavily on him is not a good idea anyway.
With that said, the Reds should do all they can to buy Guehi this summer so they have another top quality option and so that he has time to settle in if Konate does choose to leave next year.
