Liverpool FC’s busy summer hasn’t just been defined by fresh faces joining the squad; it’s also been a period of renewed commitment among the club’s brightest talents, both in the senior team and within the Academy.

Defender Conor Bradley, now an established first-team figure, inked a new contract back in May.

In recent days, word has emerged that 20-year-old midfielder James McConnell is on the verge of agreeing to a long-term deal, ahead of a planned loan move designed to accelerate his development.

Luca Stephenson, who gained valuable experience last term during his spell at Dundee in the Scottish Premiership, is set to follow a similar route: a new contract first, followed by a loan to further hone his talents.

Adding to the positive contract news, young left-back Owen Beck has also committed his future to Liverpool by signing fresh terms and will spend the 2025/26 season out on loan with Derby County.

But it’s not just good news on the men’s front.

Liverpool FC Women have confirmed that they have secured the services of veteran goalkeeper Rachael Laws, who has signed a one-year extension at Anfield ahead the 2025–26 campaign.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper, enjoying her second spell with the Reds, described the decision to stay as “a no-brainer,” explaining that Liverpool feels like home to her and her family.

Laws began her senior career at Sunderland before arriving at Liverpool on loan in 2013.

During that initial stint, she made nine appearances and helped the side clinch the Women’s Super League title under Matt Beard.

After spells with Sunderland and Reading – including winning the FA Women’s Championship Golden Glove in 2021–22 with a club-record 13 clean sheets – she returned permanently to Liverpool in July 2020.

Since rejoining, Laws has been a model of consistency between the posts, registering 108 appearances and playing a pivotal role in Liverpool’s promotion back to the WSL and subsequent consolidation in the topflight.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after sealing the deal, the No.1 said: “Over the summer it was a no-brainer when the club said they wanted to keep me here.”

“This is my home – I’ve got a house here – and it was a no-brainer.

When they said they wanted to keep me I was like, ‘Where do I sign?’ I’m looking forward to the next year or so.”

“The fans have been fantastic for me from day one and not just [now] but my first spell as well they welcomed me with open arms?

I like to repay them in the best way I can – whether that is by good performances or wins.”

“The fans have been a pivotal part of my time here and long may that continue.”
