It has not been the ideal start for Liverpool on the injury front heading into this new season, although things could always be worse.

Jeremie Frimpong had his Premier League debut curtailed by a hamstring strain sustained during the recent 4-2 victory over Bournemouth.

Fortunately, the injury is not considered severe, and the club hopes he will be fit to feature against Newcastle United on August 25.

Conor Bradley remains sidelined with a hamstring issue that has kept him out of pre-season and early competitive matches such as the Community Shield and opening Premier League fixtures.

Joe Gomez is also working his way back to full fitness after being forced to cut short Liverpool’s pre-season tour due to a calf problem.

He returned to training last week and was able to make the bench against Bournemouth, but was not risked with Wataru Endo coming on to replace Frimpong instead.

But it seems that no injury luck has been afforded to the Women’s side either.

Liverpool FC Women have been dealt a setback ahead of their 2025-26 season opener as veteran goalkeeper Rachael Laws faces a spell on the sidelines.

Laws sustained a hand injury during a recent training session and, according to the club, is expected to miss several weeks of action as she recuperates, ruling her out of pre-season fixtures and the Merseyside derby against Everton on September 7.

This absence comes at a time of significant transition for the Reds.

The summer has seen the appointment of Gareth Taylor – widely praised for his trophy-winning tenure at Manchester City -as the new head coach of Liverpool FC Women.

Despite her injury, Laws enters this campaign with added security off the pitch.

In late July, the 34-year-old signed a new contract extension, committing her to Liverpool for another season.

Her decision to stay put after more than 100 appearances for the club was described by Laws as a “no-brainer,”
