The Reds remain in talks with Crystal Palace over the defender, who is believed to be keen on a move to Anfield.

Guehi has less than 12 months remaining on his contract, and although Palace chairman Steve Parish is determined not to let the defender leave on the cheap, the club have reportedly already started to look at replacements.

According to The Independent, Palace are 'considering' Rennes talent Jeremy Jacquet as a replacement.

The 20-year-old is the latest French talent to emerge from Bondy, a suburb of Paris that has also produced Kylian Mbappe and numerous other professionals.

Jacquet is reportedly valued at £35million by Rennes, the same amount Liverpool are said to place on Guehi.

However, Palace are understood to be standing firm on their £45m valuation.

Despite strong links to a move away from Selhurst Park, Palace boss Oliver Glasner had no hesitation in starting Guehi at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

The defender was involved in an incident that saw Eberechi Eze's potential match-winning free-kick ruled out on a lesser-known technicality.

"Ebs and Marc, there has been a lot of noise about these two players in the last week," Glasner said.
