Liverpool are busy reinforcing their Premier League title-winning squad from a position of strength and, in the event of the departure of young defender Jarell Quansah, could now opt to replace him with Crystal Palace's coveted Marc Guehi - and some fans in the Liverpool ECHO comments section say he could be a future leader of the side in the vein of Virgil van Dijk.

Quansah's impending £35million transfer to Bayer Leverkusen leaves Arne Slot with a centre-back trio of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.

Gomez is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs and may get a move this summer but, even if he stayed put, Liverpool face a busy season, and something like a injury or a suspension at a critical time could threaten to derail it.

Crystal Palace's FA Cup-winning captain and England international Guehi could be on the move this summer - due to the short time left on his contract.

Liverpool would not be expecting to pay that much, and the London club would be mindful of losing him for nothing at all, at a time when they're trying to climb into the top half of the league table.
