Liverpool was handed an injury boost on Wednesday with the return of Jeremie Frimpong and Stefan Bajcetic to first-team training.

The pair were pictured by club photographers at Liverpool’s Kirkby training base, and were seen completing a session on the grass.

He was seen greeting Alexander Isak following his arrival from Newcastle United, and was one of the few players at the AXA Training Centre on deadline day as he underwent rehab work on his injury.

The midfielder was restricted to just three Liverpool appearances in the previous campaign, but impressed Slot last summer in preseason.

A fresh setback at the end of his stint at Las Palmas resulted in hamstring surgery in June, and Wednesday’s Kirkby appearance is the first time he has been seen with the Liverpool first team in over a year.

Despite loan interest from several overseas clubs during the window, Liverpool opted to retain Bajcetic’s services, and Slot feels he can offer something to the side this campaign.

Elsewhere, Isak also trained with his teammates on Wednesday as he bids to build up fitness following his disrupted summer.

The striker trained away from his Newcastle team-mates before his move to Liverpool and was deemed not fit enough to feature in Sweden’s first match over the international break.

He did play in the defeat against Kosovo, but was restricted to a cameo off the bench, and is in need of extra work as he prepares to be integrated into the Liverpool team.

Elsewhere, with the majority of players still returning from international duty, there was a youthful feel to Wednesday’s session, with Jayden Danns and Kaide Gordon among the youngsters who stepped up to aid the first team.

Freddie Woodman, Joe Gomez, and Federico Chiesa, who were not called up by their respective nations during the break, were the only first-team players pictured at the club’s AXA Training Centre.
