Liverpool's firepower, were they to add Alexander Isak to their ranks in what remains of the summer transfer window, would be uncontainable for their Premier League rivals, says former England international Stuart Pearce.

Isak, for Newcastle, trailed closest behind with 23.

Pearce believes combining the two in the same starting XI would ensure nobody is able to take the trophy off Liverpool.

"The title is over if Liverpool get Isak, yes.

They’ve ended up investing in what they've got and bring him and his goals through the door to add to Salah would be incredible," the former player then manager-turned-pundit said.

Isak's arrival would be the latest in a string of changes to the Reds' attacking department over the summer of 2025.

Hugo Ekitike has also been signed from Eintracht Frankfurt potentially reaching £79m, meanwhile Luis Diaz has just left in a £65m transfer to Bayern Munich.

If he gets that right, all of a sudden he'll be a very effective replacement for Isak.

"So if I was Newcastle, I would say, 'look, if at the end of the day we're going to lose Isak, send Nunez to us and then we'll have a bash with him'.

"You've played at Newcastle, they just love their own players up there, especially the forwards, don’t they?

So I think I could see him playing for Newcastle, I really could, if they needed a replacement."

There is one month of the summer transfer window remaining for this entire saga to reach a conclusion.

Liverpool's season officially begins on Sunday, August 10 when they face Crystal Palace for the Community Shield but their Premier League campaign then starts on Friday, August 15.

Newcastle kick off 2025/26 on the following day and most interestingly in all of this, the Reds and Magpies clash on the second matchweek of the new term at St.

James' Park, which is pencilled in for Monday, August 25.
