Liverpool are being linked with Hugo Ekitike(Image: Getty Images)
Liverpool have been handed a potential boost in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
The Reds have been credited with an interest in signing Ekitike over the last few months, with the rumours beginning to ramp up ahead of the summer transfer window.
Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez have dominated the Liverpool transfer rumour mill over the last couple of weeks as Arbe Slot looks to revamp his squad.
Ekitike emerged as a potential target on Wednesday, with reports from Germany claiming the Reds were in the running to sign the Frankfurt striker.

Chelsea were mentioned in the report by Sky Germany as showing the strongest interest in signing Ekitike.
Now a fresh update has emerged which may hand Liverpool a welcome boost.
The Athletic have reported that Chelsea are the club most likely to sign Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who has a £30million release clause in his contract.
The report claims that Delap's representatives have informed other interested clubs, which include Everton, Manchester United, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, that the striker favours a move to Chelsea.
As a result, a move for Delap could see Chelsea end their pursuit of Ekitike, which would be a welcome boost to Liverpool.
The Londoners dropping out of the race for the Frankfurt star would certainly hand an advantage to the Reds, if the reported interest in the striker turns out to be genuine.

Ekitike's name has been heavily mentioned on the transfer rumour mill for several months.
Frankfurt are reported to value the France Under-21 international at around €100million (£84million).
Liverpool currently have Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota as their centre forward options in the squad, while Arne Slot also used Luis Diaz in the No.9 role during his first season as head coach.
It remains to be seen what plans the Reds will have for the centre forward position with the transfer window set to open very soon.
