Liverpool has been told that it would take a huge offer to sign Anthony Gordon, with Newcastle under no pressure to sell the former Everton star this summer.

The Reds, along with Arsenal, are big admirers of the England international, and came close to signing him last summer as Newcastle wrestled with PSR concerns.

The Magpies ended up selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliott Anderson to comply with the league's profit and sustainability rules instead, and Gordon stayed put.



Early on last season, the left winger signed a long-term contract extension at Newcastle, and the Magpies strengthened their position in the transfer market by qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Transfer guru David Ornstein provided some information on Gordon on a podcast by The Athletic, saying: “Anthony Gordon, the price would be extremely high if he were to be lured away from Newcastle to any club

"He is just a player that Arsenal like, we have said that for a long time.”

Liverpool could be in the market for a new left winger if Luis Diaz gets the move that he is seemingly agitating for at the moment.

Diaz's future has been the subject of intense speculation for weeks, and this week has seen strong suggestions emerge surrounding a possible move abroad.

On Monday, German outlet Bild reported that Diaz had given Bayern his word that he was ready to make the move to Bavaria, before Tuesday saw the emergence of strong reports linking him with Barcelona again.



Luis Diaz could leave Liverpool

Williams signed a new 10-year contract at Athletic Club last week, sending Barca back to the drawing board with its list of targets.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco spoke glowingly of Diaz toward the end of the 2024-25 season, while Marcus Rashford of Manchester United is also an option.

Spanish outlet Cadena SER says that there is a gentleman's agreement in place between Diaz and Liverpool, which means that if an offer in excess of €80 million ($94 million) comes in for the 28-year-old, Diaz would be allowed to "leave without a problem."
