Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has insisted the decision to rule out Hugo Ekitike's goal against Arsenal on Sunday was the correct one.

The Liverpool striker thought he had continued his fine start to life in the Premier League when he converted from close range in the second-half after a goal-mouth scramble.

Florian Wirtz's shot was initially saved by David Raya before Cody Gakpo rushed onto the loose ball.



However, Gakpo's involvement in the build-up to the goal meant the offside call stood.
