Despite the fact that the Reds have failed to win in each of their last three matches and lost 3-0 to Atalanta at Anfield a week ago, it is still possible that a remarkable comeback in Bergamo could unfold.
It seems unlikely, but it is not completely implausible, that Liverpool could go a couple of goals ahead.
The last time Liverpool went to Atalanta, it won 5-0, and the Italian side is certainly beatable.
Atalanta is a full 32 points behind first-place Inter in the league and has been beaten 10 times to date this season domestically.

Before playing Liverpool, Atalanta had lost consecutively against Fiorentina (1-0) and Cagliari (2-1) and on Monday, it drew 2-2 with Hellas Verona having been two goals ahead.
It has not had as long between matches as Liverpool, who played a day earlier.
Playing Monday and then Thursday is no different from playing Sunday and then Wednesday, as Liverpool will do next week, but the extra day for the Reds could be vital in preparation and recovery time.
Gian Piero Gasperini's men are at a disadvantage having had to wait the extra day to get their league commitment out of the way.
The other big hope for Liverpool is that several players are now back from injury with a bit more time in their legs.
Add in the fact that Liverpool has now experienced playing against the man-to-man marking system that Gasperini deploys and there are reasons to think that this week's game could pan out differently from last week's.
The big questions, though, are simple: can Liverpool avoid going a goal down for once?
