Former Liverpool right-back Markus Babbel has revealed he thinks Jeremie Frimpong could prove to be an upgrade on Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Reds confirmed the signing of Frimpong on the same day Alexander-Arnold’s exit to Real was officially announced, ending the latter’s 20-year association with his boyhood club.
For that reason, Babbel, who played 73 times for Liverpool between 2000 and 2002, feels the team could be stronger despite losing such a talented player.
“Jeremie Frimpong is a different kind of right-back to Trent Alexander-Arnold,” the German said, via Poker Scout.
“I would say defensively, he is better than Trent; that has been a big weakness for Trent in the past.
“Frimpong has been one of the main players for Bayer Leverkusen in the past couple of seasons and I think he is going to become a top player for Liverpool
