And, even though players such as Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez have been sold on this summer, it feels like there’s one player in particular who could step up to the plate and potentially save Liverpool millions this season.

One of the most in-demand players from Liverpool’s first-team squad at the start of the season was Ben Doak.

Of course, Rio Ngumoha is also a potential option across the season, but since he’s just 16 years old, he can’t be relied upon to be a regular backup for the first team.

As mentioned, at the start of the summer transfer window, clubs were lining up to try and prise Doak away from Anfield.

In the Championship last season, he contributed to 10 goals in 24 games, and since he’s only 19 years old, there’s still plenty of room for him to grow.

Of course, these are all just ifs, buts and maybes at the moment, but on the face of things, if Liverpool are wanting to sign other players such as Marc Guehi, Giovanni Leoni and Alexander Isak this summer, it could be worth giving Doak a chance until they can recoup some of the money they’ve spent.
