Liverpool have made some impressive moves this summer but some of the transfers they have opted against have worked in their favour.
The Reds’ transfer window is widely regarded as a huge success, and with almost £300m spent, fans would hope so.
They have made additions all over the pitch and refreshed the first-team squad to ensure it is built to last, with the future very exciting indeed.
The number of academy players coming through is also a good sign, with Arne Slot able to call upon those internally rather than looking externally and spending more money.
And, Liverpool have been proven right with a decision they made earlier in the window, even if at the time, it might not have been a popular one among the fanbase.

Liverpool’s attack is one area that has seen a lot of change this summer, with Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz both being sold for big money.
The latter in particular is someone who many thought would be replaced due to the Colombian being such an important player over the years, and the Reds have not been short of options.
Bradley Barcola from PSG was one target they looked at, with Richard Hughes a big fan of the Frenchman, even if he would cost around €100m (£86.2m).

However, Liverpool chose not to buy Barcola due to the emergence of Rio Ngumoha, with the Reds strongly believing that the 16-year-old has the potential to reach the very top.

They did not want to block the Englishman’s pathway and that appears to have been the right choice, as when he was given the chance to prove himself against Newcastle, he took it with both hands.
He took his goal like a 28-year-old in his prime, according to Alan Shearer, with Ngumoha now surely considered as a viable option off the bench in almost any game.
Although Liverpool look like they will persist with Ngumoha for quite a while yet, there is still a chance they make a move for Barcola later down the line.
There is no denying Cody Gakpo’s talent, but with Bayern Munich already interested in him earlier this summer, there is no guarantee he will not leave in the next couple of years.
Even if he does not go, however, Liverpool still feel an attacker light and if they fail to sign Isak, they could opt for another winger instead, whether that be this year or next.
