And, while they may have brought in £50million worth of fees, Liverpool will have spent close to £300million on new additions if Hugo Ekitike arrives, so much more money will need to be raised.

And, even though Liverpool don’t want to sell certain players such as Luis Diaz this summer, there’s a price for everyone with the Reds’ stance set to be tested soon.

“In the case of Luis Diaz, you never know how willing Liverpool are to enter into negotiations, but Diaz has communicated to Bayern Munich yet again that he wants to join them,” he said.

“We expect that about €80m [£69.2m] will be required for Liverpool to entertain a first round of talks.”

There’s no denying that Diaz is a stellar talent, with the Colombian being one of the best players at the club last season.

However, seeing as though he only has two years left on his current deal, this summer is going to be the last time that Liverpool can get a decent fee for him, that is, if they don’t extend his stay, of course.

However, if Slot really does want to keep him next season, the best way for him to do that would be to extend his stay.

But, if they don’t do that and allow him to run his contract down next season, they’d just end up missing out on £70million, which could be put towards new signings such as Rodrygo or even just help them put some of the money they’ve spent back.

Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but after what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, losing him for free is something everyone will want to avoid.
