There’s no denying that Diaz is a stellar talent, with the Colombian being one of the best players at the club last season.
However, seeing as though he only has two years left on his current deal, this summer is going to be the last time that Liverpool can get a decent fee for him, that is, if they don’t extend his stay, of course.
However, if Slot really does want to keep him next season, the best way for him to do that would be to extend his stay.

But, if they don’t do that and allow him to run his contract down next season, they’d just end up missing out on £70million, which could be put towards new signings such as Rodrygo or even just help them put some of the money they’ve spent back.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but after what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold at the end of the 2024-25 campaign, losing him for free is something everyone will want to avoid.
