Liverpool have obvious transfer option they must sign during January window

The 2025 summer transfer will go down in history for Liverpool, whatever happens going forward.

Liverpool also signed Giovanni Leoni, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman, while Giorgi Mamardashvili arrived in a deal that had been agreed 12 months earlier.

Liverpool are now well-stocked across all departments in their squad to challenge for the Premier League title once again.



However, there may still be a sense that more business could have been done in the summer transfer window.

The Reds tried to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace on deadline day and even had a £35million deal in place to bring the defender to Anfield.

However, the move fell through after Palace failed to sign a replacement, and now many are left wondering if Liverpool will return in January with a fresh attempt to get a transfer over the line.

What the attempt to sign Guehi shows is Liverpool want to strengthen at centre-back.

Jarell Quansah's departure was offset by the arrival of Leoni, but uncertainty around Ibrahima Konate's future is understandably leading to the club looking for options in the transfer market.

Liverpool have the money to spend on a new centre-back should one become available, and it's clear that Guehi is the player that they want.
