Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has seen his value increase by more than 65 per cent since the start of the season, according to scouting and transfer experts Five Yards' player valuation model.

With a combined fee of £4.3m paid for Jones, who came through Liverpool's academy, and Elliott, who was previously at Fulham, Liverpool, according to Five Yards' model, now have £100m or so of talent on their hands.

There is always a desire for big-money signings to arrive, but sometimes it is those who are developed closer to home for little or no transfer fee at all who can provide the most satisfaction.

"Curtis Jones has got minutes and now we value him at just over £50m.

I don't see Liverpool selling him and I don't see him wanting to go, but that feels about right.

Jones has four goals and four assists in his 29 appearances for Liverpool's senior team this season, and his performances to date would make him likely to feature, if not start, against Chelsea on Thursday in that crucial Premier League clash.

"We started with Curtis Jones at around £30m in the summer," said Guy Rogers, co-founder of analytics website Five Yards on a special Blood Red podcast exploring the transfer market.
