Kieran Morrison scored twice as Liverpool came from behind to earn Under-18 Premier League North victory at Sunderland on Saturday.

Morrison, a 17-year-old winger, took his tally to 11 in 19 league games this season by bagging a second-half brace as Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's side secured a narrow 2-1 triumph at the Academy of Light.

The victory against the bottom-placed side keeps alive hopes of the young Reds finishing in the top three in the division, although most of the teams around them have games in hand.

Rhys Walsh gave Sunderland the lead six minutes from half-time when finishing from close range with the home side having enjoyed the better of the first half.

The Reds, though, responded strongly after the break, with 16-year-old Scofield Lonmeni marking only his second start at this level by setting up Morrison to equalise two minutes into the second half.

And Morrison then snatched the winner with 10 minutes remaining to ensure the visitors responded to the midweek 4-3 defeat at Newcastle United.

Liverpool are next in U18 Premier League North action on Saturday when they play their final home game of the season against Wolves at Kirkby (kick-off 12pm).
