Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann wants to see the club chance its arm with an audacious swap offer involving Darwin Nunez and Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
Nunez is expected to leave Liverpool this summer, three years on from his big-money transfer from Benfica, and Atletico is among the clubs said to be interested in the Uruguay international.
Clubs in Italy and Saudi Arabia are also being linked with Nunez, but Hamann would like to see him end up at Atletico if it means Alvarez moving in the opposite direction.
"I’d love to see Julian Alvarez at Liverpool and I think Darwin Nunez being part of the deal would make a lot of sense," Hamann told wette.de.
"I think Nunez is tailor-made for Atletico Madrid as a physical centre forward, someone who will work so hard, which is what Diego Simeone wants.
