Liverpool only needed to look at Premier League rivals Chelsea for evidence.
Around six months after Michael Edwards left the club, Liverpool find themselves looking for yet another new sporting director.
Last time around, it was a relatively simple process as the Reds opted to appoint Edwards' assistant, Julian Ward, as his successor.
But after Ward made the shocking decision to resign at the end of his first season at the helm, the task is far more difficult.
One of the reasons Ward left is the uncertainty hanging over the club after FSG expressed their intention to either sell or take on new investors (according to Goal).
There's no obvious internal heir, and so the Reds may need to look elsewhere for a worthy candidate.
Liverpool need to ensure these experts continue to wield the power at Anfield.
