Succession planning is at the forefront of Liverpool's boardroom thinking, with reports suggesting they're eyeing Bayern Munich's Michael Olise as a potential successor to Mohamed Salah.

The Reds' strong rapport with Bayern could also act as a secret weapon in ensuring a smooth deal next year for a player who was once admired by ex-Reds' manager Jurgen Klopp.

After a three-season spell at Crystal Palace, where he netted 16 goals and provided 25 assists, Olise made the move to Bayern in July 2024 for an initial £45million.



If Arne Slot and the Liverpool hierarchy decide to pursue their interest, their solid relationship with Bayern could play a crucial role in facilitating smooth negotiations for the right winger.

The Anfield side have conducted various deals with Bayern over recent years, strengthening their good relations.

The Reds acquired Ryan Gravenberch from the Bundesliga team in 2023, and three years prior to that, they signed Thiago Alcantara from them as well, reports the Mirror.

Before those transactions, Liverpool also secured Markus Babble and Alou Diarra from the German club in 2000 and 2002 respectively.

The prospect of straightforward negotiations will be enormously attractive for the Reds following their lengthy and extremely complex chase for Alexander Isak from Newcastle during the summer.

Liverpool's unsuccessful attempt to sign Palace skipper Marc Guehi, which fell through at the final hurdle after drawn-out discussions this summer, will also haunt the Reds in future transfer business.

There's no doubt that Salah continues to perform at an elite level despite his advancing age.

It seems Olise has been on the Reds' radar for considerable time as well.

Former Liverpool manager Klopp once revealed he was monitoring the Frenchman during the 2021/22 campaign.

His determination to climb these charts will likely prevent Liverpool from replacing him anytime soon.

However, Olise, who has started this season with three goals in two games for Bayern and boasts a record of 24 goals and 23 assists during his time in Germany, could be a strong contender to take up Salah's mantle.
