Diaz has informed the Reds of his desire to join Bayern and already agreed on personal terms with the Bundesliga side, as well as a four-year contract at the Allianz Arena.
The forward is now waiting for negotiations to open so that his future can be resolved.
Liverpool have previously reiterated that they have no intention of parting ways with Diaz this summer and rejected an offer from Bayern and an approach from Barcelona.
But the moving parts in the transfer window could prompt a change of heart on Merseyside.
Slot’s side may also feel that there are opportunities to replace Diaz with a top-quality option now, with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo looking to secure a move to the Premier League this summer after deciding that his future lies away from the Bernabeu.
