Liverpool have made the perfect start to the defence of their Premier League crown.
The Reds were involved in a six-goal thriller against Bournemouth on Friday night in a game that saw Federico Chiesa emerge as the unlikely hero and Joe Gomez make his return from injury.
Chiesa, somewhat of a forgotten man following a frustrating first season on Merseyside, climbed off the bench to put Liverpool back in front after they surrendered a two-goal lead before Mohamed Salah sealed a 4-2 victory.
Arne Slot’s side now turn their attentions to a meeting against Newcastle at St James’ Park next Monday in a fixture that is set for an extra layer of spice given the Alexander Isak transfer rumours.
The extra recovery time could be beneficial for Jeremie Frimpong, in particular, while Ryan Gravenberch will be available for selection after serving his one-game suspension.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Liverpool injury news.
Jeremie Frimpong
Liverpool’s summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen saw his Premier League debut cut short prematurely as he was substituted in the second half against Bournemouth with a sore hamstring.
Arne Slot, understandably, did not want to take any risks with Frimpong especially with a shortage of options at right-back.
“It wasn’t out of luxury,” Slot explained.
“Jeremie Frimpong felt his hamstring at half-time and made a lot of sprints.

“He was doing quite well, but our other full-back, Conor Bradley, is already injured with a hamstring injury, so you don’t to take the risk of losing another full-back.
Potential return date: August 25, 2025 vs Newcastle (A)
Conor Bradley
Liverpool’s worries over Frimpong are compounded by Conor Bradley’s absence which means there is somewhat of a crisis at right-back heading into the Newcastle fixture.
The nature of Bradley’s injury remains unknown, but it is serious enough to keep him out of recent games against Athletic Club, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Slot is sure to be quizzed about the Northern Ireland international before the trip to St James’ Park, so it’s safe to assume the defender remains a major doubt.
Potential return date: Unknown
